ABU DHABI // Al Nasr put an end to the speculation surrounding Al Jazira’s bid to recruit their star midfielder Habib Fardan.

“We want to put a stop to the rumour that has been doing the rounds both in the news and the social media on a daily basis since Jazira’s bid for the player,” said Ahmed Hashim Khouri, vice chairman of the Dubai club, in a statement.

“We appreciate the offers we received for the player, which only goes to show how important he is for us. The board of directors of the club have discussed this matter more than once, and confirmed that the player will not leave the club. More importantly, Habib himself has confirmed that he won’t leave the club. We hope to end the debate over the future of the player soon with the renewal of his contract.”

Jazira’s bid for the Al Ahli and UAE international winger Ismail Al Hammadi may also fall through with the winners of both the Arabian Gulf League and the Cup having not responded to the offer. Officials from both clubs were not available for comment.
