Al Musharrekh out of Egyptian Open

The Emirati, the first national player to qualify for the Challenge Tour event, finished on 12 over par, leaving Dubai-based Ross Bain to fly the flag for the UAE.

Ahmed al Musharrekh bowed after the second round of the Egypt Open yesterday. The Emirati, the first national player to qualify for the Challenge Tour event, finished on 12 over par, leaving Dubai-based Ross Bain to fly the flag for the UAE.

“I didn’t play well but I’m happy to have made the cut – to be honest I’m surprised still to be here after double bogeys on two par threes,” said Bain after finishing on three over par.

Rory McIlroy, the World No 9, just squeezed through to the final two days of the Cairo event although his two over par 74 left him 10 shots adrift of tournament leader Lee Slattery of England.
