DUBAI // Malik al Mubarak scored the first international try by a Qatari national to set his side of the path to the Asian Five Nations Division IV title.

The speedy winger's second-half score complemented an earlier effort by Shane Kelly, the Doha hooker, and a fine display from the kicking-tee by Paul Beard as Qatar beat Lebanon 29-14 at The Sevens.

Beard's 19 point effort included a trademark drop-goal from longe-range, which settled the tournament in the favour of a Qatar side that was only set up five weeks ago.

"I felt so good to score my first try, I can't even explain how it feels," Al Mubarak said. "I hope we have made Qataris feel proud."

Defeat was harsh on Karim Jammal, the Lebanon No 10, whose nine-point haul included a clever individual try. Zaky Rifai scored the other try for the Lebanese.
