Each of Al Jazira's three South Americans scored as the Abu Dhabi club extended their Pro League unbeaten streak to 21 games over the past 369 days by routing Sharjah 3-0 at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium last night.
Matias Delgado, the Argentine midfielder, tapped in a rebound following a save from Ibrahim Diaky's long-range shot in the 22nd minute, and the Brazilian forwards Ricardo Oliveira and Bare each scored before half time.
Oliveira's goal was his first for Jazira in league play since his return to the club from Brazil last month. Bare failed to score in his first seven games with Jazira but has eight goals in his last six.
Jazira, runners-up the past three seasons, are pursuing their first top-flight championship and are on 35 points from 13 games, seven more than second-place Baniyas.
Jazira have 16 victories and five draws since their last defeat, 2-1 away to Al Wahda on February 14, 2010.
The clean sheet was the seventh in 12 games for Jazira goalkeeper Ali Kasheif, whose team have conceded only nine goals this season.
Earlier, Baniyas halted their seven-game winless slide by defeating Al Dhafra 2-0 at Madinat Zayed. Yousuf Jaber scored with a volley off a corner in the 22nd minute and Andre Senghor scored his league-leading 13th goal from the penalty spot 10 minutes later.
Baniyas again played without the influential midfielders Amer Abdulrahman and Theyab Awana. The club had failed to win in four Etisalat Cup matches, two Pro League games and a President's Cup match since December 23.
Also, Al Shabab moved into the upper half of the pursuit pack, on 20 points, by winning 2-0 at home over Dubai. Julio Cesar, the Brazilian forward, scored from a penalty, and Mohammed Ahmed scored in the 38th minute.
Both Dhafra and Dubai missed a chance to move away from the relegation zone and remain on 12 points, one ahead of Al Ain and eight ahead of Kalba.
