The UAE Football Association and Moroccan federation have announced they will hold an Emirati-Moroccan Super Cup this month to be contested between Al Ahli and FUS Rabat.

The reigning UAE and Morocco champions will play in a match that the Emirati federation described as serving to “strengthen the cultural and social bonds” between the nations. It is to be held on October 16 at 8pm local time at Al Ahli’s Rashid Stadium.

FUS – Faith Union Sport; they also go by Al Fath Al Ribati in Arabic – finished two points ahead of Wydad Casablanca in last season’s Botola (“Championship”) for their first league title in 70 years of existence.

Ahli meanwhile won their second title in three seasons last year in the Arabian Gulf League, comfortably beating Al Ain to the title by nine points.

Organisers announced the match would be broadcast on Abu Dhabi Sports and Dubai Sports TV.
