GHANTOOT // ADCB's unbeaten run continues in the President of the UAE Polo Cup, with the polished outfit securing a place in the Grand Final thanks to a commanding performance against Ghantoot yesterday.

ADCB were made to work hard for the win, though, emerging the victors by just one goal in a four-chukker match that finished 7-6.

Ghantoot, the defending champions in this tournament, may have thought they could halt ADCB's advancement through the competition after leading in the first chukker.

But it was not long before ADCB's superior fire-power showed, with the team scoring four goals in the second chukker.

ADCB's Hugo Barabucci was the most valuable player, accounting for five of ADCB's scores, while Gonzalo Azumendi proved to be a very valuable player for Ghantoot, scoring five.

"It was a great win," said Barabucci. "Matias Colombres and Nasser al Dhari made it possible for ADCB to score as many as we did today.

"We are now very much looking forward to the final when we will hopefully also perform as well as we did today.

"This is a very important tournament and we are delighted to have reached final and we hope to see a lot of people coming to watch us."

Meanwhile, in the second game of the evening, Dubai Polo Team went down to Tom Ford, 6-3.

Oscar Colombres, the Tom Ford player, said: "It was a tight game today but we tried to play our own tactic and it worked well.

"We started tight in the third chukka but got a chance with an important penalty in the last chukker that in the end made the all-important difference on the scoreboard.

"Dubai Polo Team are a young team and they show a lot of potential for the future."

The next match takes place tomorrow when Dubai Polo Team take on Ghantoot and Tom Ford play Al Basti.

The Grand Final, which will feature ADCB and one other team yet to be decided, takes place on Friday and Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club will throw open its doors to the public for the occasion.

Held at Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, the tournament is the Abu Dhabi club's most prestigious event of the year. It is held under the patronage of Sheikh Falah bin Zayed, Ghantoot's chairman.
