Reputation matters

A survey proves reputation and investment go hand in hand

It’s official. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are among the best cities in the world for investors.

According to the New York-based Reputation Institute’s City RepTrak report – based on a survey last year among 18,000 respondents from the G8 countries – both cities beat some of the world’s most reputable metropolitan areas such as Zurich, Geneva and New York. Their ranking is based on several factors including beauty, safety, infrastructure and business environment.

Reputation and investment go hand in hand. People and companies want to invest in nations where their investment will be safe, there is infrastructure to support their investment, the population is friendly and there is respect for the rule of law.

This is not the first time that both cities have made it to the winning circle. Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi was ranked the world’s fourth most favourite city, while a study by the global consultancy firm Cushman & Wakefield put Dubai among the top 25 destinations for hotel investments.

All of this underlines what many of us who live here already know – that we live in a place that is recognised for its many merits. The UAE is a great place in which to do business, but it’s also a great place to call home.
