Oprah Winfrey's not bothered about the Academy Award nomination so many believed she would get. That's due to an impressive roster of nominations in the Supporting Actress category and her pleasure that the film she was in, Lee Daniels' The Butler, did so well. "I've been saying all along: 'I've already won. I already won.'" Emma Thompson, passed over for Best Actress in Saving Mr Banks, said: "You just go 'Oh!'– and then you [say] 'Ooh, that means I can work in March instead of getting into another frock and heels."' – Associated Press

"It was stunning news," Moreno said, "the last thing in the world I would have ever expected." The 82-year-old Puerto Rican actress has a movie career that dates back to 1950, with her first career triumph coming with the film adaptation of the stage musical The King and I in 1956. She went on to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance as the Hispanic gang leader's girlfriend Anita in 1961's West Side Story.
