Readers have their say on Pakistan, work experience and Ahed Tamimi
Let's hope Imran Khan leads for the people
I write in reference to your recent coverage of last week’s momentous election in Pakistan. It would appear that Imran Khan will be the new prime minister of Pakistan, having once been its heroic cricketing captain.
He has worked hard for the job, over the last two decades. Mr Khan currently embodies the hopes of millions of people, in Pakistan and beyond. He has many urgent tasks awaiting him, such as managing the economy, countering terrorism and creating jobs and infrastructure.
Let us hope he will work for the prosperity of the common people of the country and enable improved relations with India. If Pakistan and India learn to live peacefully, as their countrymen abroad do, whether in Dubai, London or New York, both countries will save a lot of defence expenditure and benefit from augmented trade and tourism.

With the new dawn in Pakistan it is important that Imran Khan identifies and deploys the best human resources available to him in order to optimise chances of success.
Pakistan has not had a full-time foreign minister for the last five years; it is about time we remedied that.

The news of the recent election outcome in Pakistan and the fact that former cricket star Imran Khan was elected is a very positive development for Pakistani politics, society and the country’s economy. It is unfortunate that Mr Khan is unable to rule without a coalition. He is now seeking governing partners who are like-minded and have a real intention to eradicate corruption and clean the country’s public administration. It just remains to be seen if Mr Khan will succeed in his attempt.

Youngsters need professional experience for the future
I write in reference to your article New decree allows UAEs school pupils to work part time during holidays (July 29): I would like to know if 14-year-olds can apply. This is wonderful. Young people need to learn from actual experience in the workplace.

I wish this had been implemented when we were there.
