Hungary is doing what it deems necessary for its people’s welfare

Our readers have their say on Viktor Orban's policies and the inconvenience of constant construction in the city

Regarding the article In Hungary, women won’t pay tax if they have four or more children but this is dangerous (January 18) by Shelina Janmohamed: it is outrageous and unacceptable to compare the Hungarian family support system to Nazi Germany, which murdered millions of people. In fact, it is the exclusionist who does that.

Viktor Orban’s government supports Hungarian families and will continue to do so. We think this is the right way.

The Hungarian government does not interfere in anyone’s private life. We want to create living conditions that ensure the opportunity for people to have children.

If you study the Hungarian tax and family support system carefully, you will see that the government helps mothers in several ways to participate in the labour market.

We have always said no to illegal immigration because, according to European experience, it is dangerous and increases the risk of terrorism and crime.

At the same time, we believe that everyone has the right to live in their homeland in safe, dignified conditions.

If this is not possible, acceptable conditions must be created in the safe place closest to their home country so that everyone can return to their home country once the conflict is over.

This is why Hungary has launched the ‘Hungary Helps’ program, which has so far helped with $40 million to keep 50,000 people in crisis regions by renovating their homes, hospitals, and schools, which has been recognised by the citizens living in the crisis areas and the international actors.

We would also like to inform you that 9,140 foreign students from several countries around the world are studying with the Stipendium Hungaricum State Scholarship Program in Hungary.

Residents want to know when construction work will be finished

Digging up the entire Khalifa city at the same time is highly stressful and inconvenient. Of course the new ministries area has been fully greened already.

For the rest of us, it is just a building site across the whole area. Everything is incomplete and there are bollards everywhere. Nobody can tell us when the work is going to be finished, what it is going to look like and how much more disruption we have to face.

This is not the face of Abu Dhabi we all know and love. This impacts all residents who have to put up with the shambolic mess. Please just finish something before digging yet more of the city up.
