Gucci has unveiled its spring/summer 2017 advertising campaign, shot by Glen Lunchford.

Styled by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, with Christopher Simmonds responsible for art direction, the campaign is set in Gucci’s homeland, and sees a colourful cast of characters collide in the streets of Rome.

It has a laid-back 1970s vibe and is suitably surreal and eccentric, with wild cats roaming the streets, giraffes being hand-fed grapes, and lions and tigers wandering into homes.

The campaign video is set against the Italian 1980s pop tune Amore Disperato by Nada, and is a fitting tribute to a brand that has spent the best part of 2016 reshaping the definition of cool.

A motley crew of models includes Daisy Cvitkovic, Dwight Hoogendijk, Unia Pakhomova, Douglas Payne, Elibeidy Danis Martinez, Lina Horst, Tessa Bruinsma, Ellen De Weer, Lorens Miklasevics, Olof Källström, Nick Fortna and Nicole Atieno.

The campaign will be rolled out from January 1 2017.
