The in-form striker will miss the club's buzz if he decides to take up an offer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Money could be the only motivation for Radamel Falcao to leave
Radamel Falcao has scored in every game he has played in since late August, 16 goals in 10 matches for his club, Atletico Madrid and his country, Colombia.
Falcao is the best No 9 in world football at present and it is not only in the top scorers' chart that his name is being mentioned alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Falcao is a game-changer who has lifted Colombia into a strong position in the South American qualifying group for Brazil 2014 and Atletico to the joint top of the Primera Liga.
He boasts a better goals-per-minute ratio than Ronaldo and Messi and scored again at the weekend, a last minute free-kick as Atletico ended Real Sociedad's 100 per cent home record.
Atletico fans argue that his goals are better as he is surrounded by more inferior players than are Messi and Ronaldo.
They also know that Falcao's position in Spain is less secure.
From Fernando Torres to Sergio Aguero, Atletico sell their best strikers and Paris Saint-Germain have been sizing up a bid. But the Colombian is happy where he is loved. And so he should be. Atletico are a big club, bigger than PSG but without wealthy backers.
Falcao has won the Europa League and European Super Cup this year. His desire to play Champions League football is understandable, but that is achievable with Atletico. If the 26 year old wants more money then he should leave, but he would surely miss the current buzz around Atletico.
