Have a Middle Eastern feast

Hangar 66 is an off-the-beaten-track Middle Eastern restaurant that opened last autumn in Mussaffah, but don’t let the location deter you. It’s actually easy to find among the warehouses of the capital’s industrial zone, and you’ll be rewarded with some of the freshest, tastiest traditional foods you’ve ever had. The moutabal is sweet and smoky and the shish tawook (pictured), comes in four perfectly grilled flavours. Save room for the Umm Ali, too, which is creamy and not too sweet. The eatery has a colourful, quirky garage theme, with attentive waiters dressed in coveralls and cutlery shaped like spanners. There are large-screen TVs, shisha, and comfortable seating indoors and outdoors. Take the E30 to Mussaffah, exit onto 8th Street, drive straight to the end, turn left on to 7th Street and go through four roundabouts. Then, U-turn at 16th Street, and Hangar 66 will be on your right.

Binge on Netflix

One might think that because of the mature age of the lead characters in Netflix’s series Grace & Frankie, the show is only for an older market. Think again. This is a show with perennial appeal. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s on-screen friendship appeals to all generations and genders – and season five, which dropped on the streaming platform this month, is no different. It’s as fun, fabulous and heart-warming as the previous four instalments. Grab a taco (Frankie’s favourite), find a comfy spot on the couch, and settle in to binge-watch this weekend. It’s time to Netflix and chill.

Show your hand

It’s not a party if you don’t have Dobble. The British card game uses speed, observation and reflexes while following a similar premise to the card game Snap. Dobble contains 55 cards with each one having eight items on it. The eight items vary in size, but there is always at least one item matching with another card. Players are tasked with finding the matching item before other players by calling out the name of the item as they place their card on the top of the deck. There are a variety of ways to play, too, to prevent boredom.

Dobble is available at Back to Games at Al Wahda Mall from Dh69 or purchase online at souq.com
