World Diabetes Day is today (November 14). To honour the occasional, there are two walk events happening in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the next two weekends. Here's what you need to know if you want to attend.
Walk 2018 at Yas Marina Circuit
When: Friday, November 16 at 2pm
What: Head to Yas Marina Circuit for their signature walkathon, which sees participants trek round the five-kilometre track to raise awareness. In addition to the walk, there will also be other activities, including stage entertainment such as a DJ, fitness instructors, face paintings, children's arts and crafts, Zumba demonstrations, a wall climb and trampolines.

Beat Diabetes at Zabeel Park
When: November 23 at 7am
What: The Beat Diabetes Walk is approximately three kilometres and starts at Gate 3 of Zabeel Park. All participants will receive a walkathon kit via courier made up of a Beat Diabetes T-shirt, cap and surprise gifts through courier. Those who take part can also get their sugar levels checked at free blood-glucose-testing kiosks on-site. There will also be other fitness activities such as Zumba and yoga, and children can be kept entertained at the Super Kidz arena, which will have sport challenges, games and healthy snacks.
Registration: Dh20 per person (15 years and above), Dh10 per child between 8 and 14, children under 8 are free. To register online, visit www.beatdiabetes.me or you can register at the venue on the day of the event.
