Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is doing his bit to help people stay active and heathy as they self isolate, by offering free access to his fitness app, Centr, for the next six weeks.

“The app was designed to give people the opportunity to access the team that I’ve used over the years, who’ve had a profound positive impact on my life,” Hemsworth explains on Instagram.

The famously buff Hollywood star, best known for his role as Norse god Thor in the Marvel Universe films, regularly posts pictures and videos of his own gruelling workouts, and founded Centr “to make health and happiness accessible to all”.

Acknowledging the fear and uncertainty that many are feeling in the midst of the current coronavirus crisis, he stressed that is more important than ever to stay active and positive.

“In times like this, when there’s a lot of uncertainty running through your head, a lot of questions, I find it’s even more important than usual to concentrate on your movement, your physical activity, your exercise, your nutrition, what you put in your body, what we eat, and also our mental fitness, our mental game – staying positive.”

“On this app, there are training experts, nutritional advice, chefs, meditation teachers, sleep visualisations," Hemsworth explains. "The three key ingredients to living a healthier and happier life."

The app usually costs $29.99 for a one month subscription, or $10 per month for a 12-month plan. It includes 20 to 40 minute workouts that you can do at home or in the gym, covering HIIT, boxing, yoga, strength training and MMA.

Users are encouraged to log their goals and set their preferred workout intensity. New and bonus workouts are released on a week basis. The app also offers dietitian-approved meal pans, featuring recipes by world-case chefs, including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian options. The experience is rounded off with guided meditations and sleep visualisations.

“In recent weeks Centr has seen a groundswell of support from our customers and communities, with thousands of members around the world coming together and sharing how the programme has brought them positivity and support during these difficult times,” Hemsworth says.
