Plan your week with wellness in mind, with four health and fitness-focused activities or sessions to try in the UAE.

From taking on a fitness challenge with a triathlon, to gym classes with friends, parenting programmes and breast cancer screening initiatives, here are four wellness focused things you could be doing this week:

Register for the Dubai Women’s Triathlon

Registrations for the fourth Dubai Women’s Triathlon, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 27, opened this week. Organised by the Women and Sports Committee, part of the Dubai Sports Council, in co-operation with Dubai Ladies Club, this year’s event is open to everyone above the age of 15.

Participants can choose from three categories. The Super Sprint features a 400-metre swim, 10-kilometre bike ride and 2.5km run for beginners. The Sprint includes a 750-metre swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run for more experienced athletes. And the Olympic Distance requires participants to complete a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run. The swim part of the race will take place at the Dubai Ladies Club, the bike ride along Jumeirah Beach Road, and the run along the Dubai Canal.

Tickets from Dh145. All money raised will be donated to Al Jalila Foundation.

Thrive Wellbeing Centre has launched Peaceful Parenting, a four-week programme that is open to current and future parents, and is conducted by child specialist Dr Ola Pykhtina.

The course will guide parents on the best way to support their children and help them meet their full potential in a way that will help mum and dad enjoy the parenting journey.

The course will be delivered in the form of a presentation full of tips, strategies and everyday activities that can be done with children. The sessions will also provide parents with individual feedback.

The four-hour course starts on Saturday, October 31, at 9am, and is priced at Dh1,600 for one or both parents. Register at www.thrive.ae

Recognising that it's always more fun to exercise with friends, boutique fitness studio Bare DXB kick-starts its Girls Night (Work) Out – which requires you to "swap your pub crawl for your bear crawl" – every Wednesday at 5.30pm.

Women registering for the Dh120 class can bring a friend, and enjoy two-for-one protein shakes. The hour-long session will feature a high-intensity routine that concentrates on the lower body (a sure-fire way to torch those calories).
