Many people slow down during Ramadan, but Zayed Sports City is encouraging residents to take up a new activity – tennis.

ZSC Academy’s Beginners Tennis Programme runs for six sessions and will teach participants basic skills and knowledge, before progressing to games. It aims to encourage people to stay fit and healthy during Ramadan.

The programme is designed for adults who have little or no previous experience and will focus on the development of technique, tactics and rules.

The sessions will take place from 10pm to 11pm on Sundays and Tuesdays, starting on May 28 and running until June 13.

Barry Bremner, general manager of Zayed Sports City, says maintaining health is a year-round commitment. “Tennis is becoming more popular in the Emirates and while starting a new sport can be intimidating for adults, this format removes any fear factor. We want to encourage new people into the game – it’s a sport that can be played well into old age and can play a key role in life-long health,” Bremner says.

There is a Dh600 registration fee and participants are also offered a discount on Wilson tennis starter kits.
