Those residents with an interest in swimming will be keen to learn that Daman health insurance’s ActiveLife brand and NYU Abu Dhabi have teamed up.

Starting from Saturday, September 9, Abu Dhabi locals will be given free access to the Olympic-sized swimming pool at the university as part of iSwimNYUAD.

The 50-metre pool will be open to residents every Saturday morning from 9am-11am.

The weekly event is suitable from all fitness levels — from those who may be a little shy of the water or those who want to practice while training for a triathlon.

Swimming has been proven to be an effective way of burning calories while avoiding heavy impact on joints.

“iSwimNYUAD is an open and inclusive platform that provides an accessible environment for all members of the community to take part in, regardless of their fitness levels and previous athletic experience,” says Dr. Michael Bitzer, chief executive of Daman.

The new programme is the latest of six ActiveLife events that currently include StartYAS, TrainZSC, Go YAS, TrainDubai and iTrainSaturdays.
