“The Saudi Sports for All Federation is excited to present the 2020 Riyadh Spartan race at Dirab Motor Park. The event, structured for all fitness levels and age demographics, is an exciting, adrenaline-packed challenge for those looking for an out-of-box fitness experience,” said Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, President, SFA.

“We’re probably the most excited for the Spartan Kids Race Days; building a healthy active community starts with kids getting up and out there in fun and interesting environments, and this is one race not to be missed,” he added.

The Friday event will see the women’s race take place alongside the girls-only race. Women can partake in the Spartan Sprint, where over 20 obstacles are packed over a five kilometre distance. The event, which is suitable for all fitness levels, will include some of the signature Spartan obstacles like mud, water, fire and barbed wire.

On Saturday, the Spartan Super and the Spartan Sprint for male participants will take place. The Spartan Super is the event’s middle-distance course for seasoned athletes, with more than 25 obstacles over 10km. Meanwhile, the Sprint is Spartan’s shortest course with over 20 obstacles over a five kilometre distance, and is suitable for athletes of all fitness levels. A boys-only race will take place on the same day.

The Spartan Kids races will give those aged 4 to 14 a chance to earn medals at one of three distances:

4 to 6 year olds can compete over a distance of 800 plus metres

7 to 9 year olds can compete over a distance of 1,600 plus metres

10 to 14 year olds can compete over a distance of 3,200 plus metres

Children also have the option of also earning a Kids Trifecta medal by completing three races within the same calendar year.

The first Saudi Spartan race took place in August 2019 in the mountains of Al Soudah during the Asir Festival, and attracted over 1,500 attendees including spectators and volunteers. The 2020 Riyadh Spartan race expects attendees from across the GCC region.
