Dubai's Walk of Fame will be unveiled to the public next week. The walkway, featuring Dubai Stars plaques, will be open to walk down on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard from Sunday, October 20.

Emaar is reportedly launching the Dubai Stars, a "walkable tribute, honouring the world's exceptional achievers who have left an indelible mark on the world", with 400 plaques to begin with, which have been voted for by the public. However, when the project is complete it has been claimed there will be 10,000 Dubai Stars in Downtown Dubai.

The unveiling of the Dubai Stars coincides with the One Year to Go concert, marking a year until Expo 2020 Dubai. Mariah Carey and Hussain Al Jassmi will both be performing at the Downtown Dubai event. The Emirati singer has already been revealed as a recipient of a Dubai Star, so perhaps we can expect Mariah Carey to get a nod in person on the Walk of Fame next week, too?

Huda Kattan, Mohamed Salah and Priyanka Chopra are three of the famous faces who have already been honoured with a Dubai Star. They pay homage to local and international personalities from various fields including music, film, art, architecture, sport and literature, as well as social influencers.

The public has been voting for the people they think should be honoured with a star, dead or alive, since May.

When the project was launched, managing director of Emaar Properties, Ahmad Al Matrooshi, said: “With Dubai Stars we are further highlighting our commitment to making Dubai the best city in the world, and to promoting arts, culture and sports by saluting the stars, whose contributions continue to inspire the world.”

Lebanese designer Elie Saab was the first receive a Dubai Star. The news was revealed at a ceremony in April this year to launch Saab residences, a collaboration between the Lebanese fashion powerhouse and developer Emaar.

“Elie Saab is the pride of the Arab world, and a fascinating international success story," Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar said at the time.
