Beijing
China's increasingly competitive hotel market has a bright, shiny new kid on the block. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' new Kerry Hotel emerged last month from a multi-million-dollar renovation, which included being rebranded from the Kerry Centre Hotel.
The relaunched hotel is the group's second, joining its stablemate, the Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, which established the brand in February.
The improvements include contemporary rooms and suites, a Club lounge, a revamped lobby and a grand ballroom. It has also introduced two new dining outlets - Kerry's Kitchen and Kerry's Pantry - and the hotel's iconic Centro bar and lounge has been redesigned so that it now offers an outdoor terrace.
The Kerry also claims to be Beijing's most comprehensive hotel fitness facility, with everything from an expansive indoor swimming pool, a full-size basketball court and even an in-house tennis pro to give lessons on the indoor courts.
