Travel Deals: new explorations

An active holiday in Albania, luxury tours to Botswana and India, and a beach holiday in Thailand are all on offer this week.

Albania

This nine-day trekking and riding expedition follows Lord Byron's epic 1809 journey through the mountains of southern Albania's Vjosë Valley en route to a rendezvous with Vizier Ali Pasha at his castle stronghold in Tepelena (the trip is chronicled in Byron's famous poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage).

The trek includes stops at the Ottoman town of Gjirokastër, a Unesco World Heritage Site, the Byzantine church of Labovë e Kryqit, with lunch at a Bektashi monastery on the outskirts of Melen and a ride through the Këlcyra Gorge.

Botswana

Golden Triangle, India
