Camping in Yosemite National Park, US

Tour operator Bon Voyage (www.bon-voyage.co.uk) has launched a three-day "escape" camping trip in Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in California. It's best known for its giant, ancient sequoia trees. Trips cost from £375 (Dh2,178) per person, based on two adults sharing a tent, home-cooked meals around the camp fire and guided walks along lesser known trails in the park.

 

Enjoy Madonna and a weekend at the beach

The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort (www.stregissaadiyatisland.com) has launched its Madonna Exclusive packages for music fans. Choose either silver or gold treatment on concert night, June 4. "Silver" includes one night in a double room with breakfast, late checkout the next day and two Grand Stand Madonna concert tickets for Dh3,248. "Gold" includes one night in a St Regis Suite, breakfast, late checkout the next day, two Golden Circle tickets, tour memorabilia, and VIP entry at Yas Arena for Dh8,236. Join the rush to the island of Singapore

According to the Singapore Tourism Board, the number of Gulf residents visiting the tiny island state increased by more than 18 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared with 2011. The local tourism authority credits Singapore's new attractions including the Marina Bay Sands development for the increase in visitor numbers.

 

Seek solitude on a lovely Indonesian island

Hop to Gili Meno, a tiny island off the north-west coast of Lombok in Indonesia, and the smallest of the three Gili Islands. The Mahamaya (www.mahamaya.co) is a new boutique hotel which boasts that its name means ultimate paradise. Expect white sand and a slower pace of life: you can walk around the island in an hour. Make a timely visit to Petra in Jordan

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the 6th-century city of Petra by the Swiss explorer and Arabist Johann Ludwig Burckhardt.
