If you’ve ever fantasised about spending a night under the stars on an idyllic island, but never fancied being up-close and personal with the flora and fauna of the great outdoors, the Maldivian island of Finolhu might be of interest. The luxury destination, set within Baa Atoll and a half-hour seaplane ride from the airport in capital Male, has unveiled its latest accommodation: a Beach Bubble tent.

Taking the concept of glamping up a notch or two, this is a hotel room set within a transparent bubble, through which guests can take in uninterrupted views of the solar system at night, or watch in wonder as the sun rises the following morning. And all without the risk of getting sand in places you’d rather not, or being feasted upon by airborne creatures of the night.

The Beach Bubble is set within its own private space – a secluded spot that’s 1.5 kilometres from the activities of the island’s 1 Oak Beach Club, and well away from the 125 villas that occupy space above the water, the lagoon and the main beach areas.

Finolhu is calling this the Dream Eclipse experience and it costs upwards of US$600 (Dh2,200) per couple, including one night in the sphere, a private beach barbeque and private waterside breakfast at Bubble Beach.
