Rain causing some delays at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports
Passengers advised to monitor status of flights before travelling as weather causes disruptions across the country
Travellers flying in or out of Dubai International Airport should monitor the status of their flights due to current weather conditions, Dubai Airports said in an advisory.
The airport operator said passengers could visit its website or check with airlines to ensure they have up-to-date information.
“Dubai Airports is working with airlines and other service partners to normalise operations and minimise inconvenience to our customers,” a Dubai Airports spokesperson said.
In Abu Dhabi, the airport witnessed an average delay of 50 minutes for departing flights.
Flightradar24, the flight-tracking service, said the average delay for departing flights at Dubai International Airport was 34 minutes.
A flydubai spokesperson told passengers flying out of Dubai International Airport today that "the adverse weather conditions in Dubai caused minor delays to our flights, but we are operating to schedule".
Emirates said that all its flights were operating normally. However some flights operated by Royal Jordanian, Ethiopian Airlines and Spice Jet faced delays, data from the Dubai Airports website showed.
