Billed as "a picturesque desert resort set against the sweeping dunes of central Sharjah," Al Badayer Oasis by Mysk, a luxurious glamping retreat, has opened in the emirate.

A stay at the oasis camp aims to introduce guests to the unique Emirati way of life, with 21 rooms and 10 tents on the intimate campsite. However, far from getting back to basics, the site promises an 'Arabian castle' feel and comes complete with two restaurants, a health club and an indoor pool, giving it a wellness-focused feel.

"The general design of the room is reminiscent of caravanserais. It is an expression of traditional architecture, not cliche, yet [maintains] elements of the Arabian culture," Mysk says. "You can choose between staying in a fully equipped tent or in a room depending on the journey you would like to foster."

Al Badayer Oasis is set in the heart of the Sharjah desert, close to one of the biggest sand dunes in the Emirates:

Guests will eat well while at Al Badayer Oasis. The site boasts Kulo Emirati restaurant, which serves traditional Emirati cuisine and Caravan, an international all-day eatery. The restaurants are both open to in-house guests as well as non-residents.

Naturally, the glamping location also offers desert activities, offering guests the chance to take part in dune bashing, quad biking, sand boarding, horse riding, desert safaris and camel tours.

Those interested in something a little less high-octane can take wildlife tours, see falconry displays and try traditional henna. Plus, the Al Badayer Oasis offers the perfect remote location for stargazing come nightfall.

The site itself is well placed for international visitors and UAE residents, alike. It is located 35 minutes from Sharjah Airport and 40 minutes from Dubai International Airport by car.
