Is your name Valentine? Then a free flight could be yours
Wow air are giving complimentary trips to anyone called Valentine this month, while other airlines are offering love-induced deals
Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and with just two days to go, if you don't have plans yet you run the risk of disappointing a loved one. That said, if you or your partner are called Valentine, then you’re in luck – you can get a free flight to New York or Reykjavik on Iceland’s low-cost airline.
Wow air is celebrating the month of love by giving any passengers with the first or last name Valentine a free flight this February. To qualify, you need to be flying as a pair, and your name must be Valentine, or Valentin for French-speakers – unfortunately middle names don’t count.
If that's you, get booking as the promotion is only valid for trips taken between now and February 19, and flights need to be purchased before February 14. If you’re flying from the United States or Canada, you can claim a free flight to Reykjavik, and if you’re departing from Europe, you can head off to New York.
If you don’t have the name, blame your parents - but don’t stress, there’s still time to organise something that won’t seem too last-minute this Valentine’s Day, thanks to a few other love-induced airline offers.
Whisk your significant other off on a romantic getaway with Sri Lankan Airlines’ Cross My Heart and Hope to Fly offer, where you’ll get 50 per cent off your partner’s business class ticket when you travel between March 1 and May 28. Head to London, Male or the Seychelles, or hop across to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo where you can go sailing on the Indian Ocean, see turtles hatch on the beach or explore the cobbled streets of Galle with its colonial mansions, ancient mosques and boutique hotels. Business class fares for two from Abu Dhabi to Colombo cost from Dh5,500.
Share the love with FlyDubai, with the low-cost carrier offering 50 per cent off companion flights. Pick from a huge selection of destinations including Prague, Zanzibar, Colombo and Helsinki. You’ll have to book before February 17 and travel between now and May 20.
Go off the romantic-track radar and head to Sofia in Bulgaria where economy tickets for two cost from Dh1,815. If you're feeling fancy, push the boat out and fly business; you can reach the coconut palm-fringed beaches of Salalah in neighbouring Oman for Dh3,190 for two business-class tickets.
Take advantage of Kenya Airways' flash Valentine's sale with fares slashed by 30 per cent on flights from the UAE to Mahe, Mauritius, Mombasa, Cape Town, Nairobi and more. For sheer romance, opt for one of the world’s favourite honeymoon destinations where you can get economy fares from Dubai to Mauritius from Dh2,355. You need to book by February 14 and travel before February 15 so it's the perfect excuse for a last-minute Valentine's weekend away where you can spend your time beach-side dining, sunset horseriding and catamaran cruising.
Tour operator Holiday Factory has already sold out of most of its Valentine's deals, but at the time of writing you could still book the Czech Republic trip to Prague. You'll have to book it today, the deal ends at 5pm this evening.
