Hotel Indigo, the boutique-style resort from InterContinental Hotels Group, will debut in Oman in early 2022.

Hotel Indigo Jabal Al Akhdar will open its doors in the Hajar Mountain range of Nizwa. The 176-room hotel is being built 2,000 metres above sea level on Jebel Akhdar, or the Green Mountain, so called because of its mostly limestone terrain.

In keeping with the Hotel Indigo ethos, the property will draw inspiration from its surroundings to give guests authentic local experiences that are blended with modern design. Located on one of Oman's tallest peaks, Hotel Indigo will find itself among some upscale neighbours including Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort and Alila Jabal Akhdar Oman.

Hotel Indigo's offering looks set to be a more affordable and intimate option for travellers looking to explore the craggy highland. On offer will be a wide range of activities designed to make the most of the mountain. These include mountain biking, hiking and caving. Guests will also be able to book excursions where they can find out more about the history and culture of the region with day trips to the Fort and Souq of Nizwa.

While the exact opening date has yet to be confirmed, when it does welcome guests, Hotel Indigo Jabal Al Akhdar will have three food and beverage outlets, including one specialising in local cuisine. There will also be indoor and outdoor pools and a 2,200-square-metre spa for guests looking to escape to the mountains for a spot of wellness.

The hotel is located about a two-hour drive from Muscat International Airport and a six-hour drive from Dubai.

Hotel Indigo in Dubai opening next week

IHG’s boutique hotel brand is expanding in the region. Later this month, Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown will open to guests. Bookings are currently available from Tuesday, October 20 and rates start at Dh349.

Dubai's newest hotel is a 269-room, pet-friendly hotel that also embraces the Indigo essence of drawing from its surrounds. This is showcased via a variety of artistic collaborations with several local entities including the Alserkal Cultural Foundation, Tashkeel, XVA Gallery and the Fatima bint Mohammed Bin Zayed Initiative.
