Moxy London Excel and Stratford
A 'budget chic' brand owned by Marriott, Moxy has opened a new property at London's Royal Docks, close to London City Airport, the Abu Dhabi-owned London ExCel International Exhibition Centre and the Emirates Air Line cable car to the O2 Arena. Rooms cost from £66 (Dh316) per night including taxes. Not far away, the Moxy London Stratford is also taking bookings from its opening date of October 25. This hotel is located opposite the Westfield Shopping Centre and close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Rooms here cost from £61 (Dh292) per night including taxes (www.marriott.com).
The Curtain hotel and members club, Shoreditch
A one-off property in a converted warehouse, created by New York hotelier Michael Achenbaum, this one-off hotel on Curtain Road has 120 rooms, three restaurants, a live music venue, member's club and a Moroccan-inspired rooftop pool and lounge. Just south of the river on Tooley Street, the Indian LaLit hospitality group, which has 12 properties in India, has branched out with the unusual London setting of a 180-year-old building which used to be St. Olave's Grammar School. The LaLit Hotel near London Bridge has an imposing appearance and 70 rooms, as well as an atmospheric Great Hall housing Baluchi, an Indian fine dining restaurant. There is also a large spa and gym.
