Etihad Airways is set to resume flights to three destinations across Saudi Arabia from October 1.

The national airline of the UAE confirmed it will resume flights to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.

"With travel restrictions being eased and borders reopening, subject to the lifting of international restrictions, we look forward to resuming flights to the Kingdom in October and once again, connecting Abu Dhabi to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam," said Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Etihad Aviation Group.

Etihad has a Dreamliner jet dedicated to Saudi Arabia.

The special liveried "Choose Saudi Arabia" Boeing 787-9 first took to the skies on Saudi Arabia National Day last year. The aircraft's livery has the colours of the kingdom on it, as well as a latticework design and Islamic calligraphy.

“The Saudi Arabian-inspired livery celebrates the UAE’s close historical ties with the Kingdom," added Al Qubaisi.

Since its first flight from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh last year, the Saudi Arabia Etihad jet has flown to 46 destinations and carried about 74,000 passengers.

In 2019, Etihad operated 8,404 passenger flights between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Etihad is resuming flights to several destinations as travel restrictions around the world ease. Most recently, the airline added Casablanca and Rabat to its network. With the addition of flights to Saudi Arabia from Thursday, October 1, pending approval, the airline will be operating to 61 destinations worldwide.
