Emirates has announced it will resume daily flights to Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, on July 8.
Last month, the Dubai-based airline suspended flights to and from Sudan following political unrest in the capital. At the time, they were operating three daily flights.
Operating daily, EK733 will now depart Dubai at 2.35pm and will arrive in Khartoum at 4.40pm. The return flight departs Khartoum at 6.10pm and then arrives back in Dubai at 12.20am.
Emirates currently operates a Boeing 777ER on the route, offering customers a choice of cabins with eight private suites in first class, 42 lie-flat seats in business class and an economy class with 304 seats.
“After closely monitoring the situation in Sudan and conducting an exhaustive review of all operational factors, we have decided to resume our services to Khartoum," said Orhan Abbas, Emirates’ senior vice president commercial operations for Africa.
"This will help support local business and increase access to international markets, as well as benefit passengers connecting to our global network."
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad and low-cost carrier flydubai have also grounded their flights. There's no word yet on when they will resume.
