January is a good time to book airline tickets. It's not only when you start planning your travels for the year ahead, but also when the sales are on and prices are low – and 2019 is no exception. This week both Etihad Airways and Emirates launched their first sales of the year.

Book your tickets on Emirates by January 22 and receive a discount on tickets when you travel before November 30.

Passengers travelling within the Middle East can get economy-class tickets starting from Dh795 and business-class tickets starting from Dh3,745.

If you're travelling within Asia and the Pacific region, prices start from Dh825 and Dh3,395, respectively. For Africa these prices are Dh1,355 and Dh5,995 while for Europe they are Dh1,955 and Dh8,865. For the Americas tickets cost Dh3,535 and Dh16,925.

You could get to Kuwait for Dh795, to Zurich for Dh2,600 or New York City for Dh3,835.

Travellers can also book with Emirates Holidays and get a holiday experience for an extra cost, starting from Dh2,479 per person, inclusive of the airfare.

The region's long-haul airlines, such as Emirates Airline, Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways, are adding new aircraft three times faster than their rivals in Europe and Asia.
Etihad Airways' Global Sale ends on January 24.

Etihad Airways

The UAE's national airline announced its Global Sale, and discounted fares are now available, with end dates varying from region to region.

If you book by January 24 and travel between January 18 and November 27, you can go from Abu Dhabi in economy to Manila from Dh1,763, Bangkok from Dh1,903 and Barcelona from Dh2,753.

Within the same dates, you can go from Abu Dhabi in business class to London from Dh12,969, Paris from Dh16,139 and New York from Dh18,819.
