With the Eid holiday upon us and the majority of Dubai and Abu Dhabi residents set to enjoy four or five days off, many people from the UAE plan to go on holiday.
As thousands of travellers head to Dubai airports to fly abroad for Eid Al Fitr, Emirates is warning passengers to arrive early at Dubai International Airport.
How early should I arrive at Dubai airport?
The airline is encouraging passengers to turn up at least three hours before their flight departure time to avoid any delay.
The busiest time for Terminal 3 is set to be Friday, May 31 when 80,000 passengers will fly out of Dubai.
"Peak travel is expected to continue until Monday, June 3, with over 309,000 Emirates passengers travelling from Dubai during this period of time," the airline said.
Traffic congestion and roadworks around the airport will continue to cause disruption, and traffic delays are expected.
Emirates reminds customers that passengers checking in less than 60 minutes prior to their scheduled flight departure time will not be accepted for travel, although passengers can physically check in at the airport up to 24 hours before their flights leave.
After check-in, passengers are also reminded to ensure they arrive at boarding gates on time. These open 90 minutes before departure, and boarding starts 45 minutes before each flight. Gates close 20 minutes before departure and no passenger will be accepted after this time.
Should I check in online or at the airport?
To avoid lengthy queues, passengers are also encouraged to check in online from 48 hours to 90 minutes before flight departure.
Car park check-in facilities can also be used, and passengers can drop luggage there. Bag drop counters in the airport can be used from six hours to 90 minutes prior to departure.
Families travelling with small children should head to the dedicated family counters in Check-in Zone 2
The southern runway at Dubai International Airport has been closed for essential maintenance since April 16 but is due to open on Thursday, May 30 before the busy Eid weekend.
