In a lengthy Instagram caption, Bella Hadid has announced that she is donating 600 trees to be planted, in a bid to offset the carbon emissions from the many flights she takes travelling for work.

"[I am] donating 600 trees to be planted, 20 for each flight I took these past three months and probably will continue for the rest of the year," she wrote on Instagram.

That works out as 30 flights in three months, roughly one every three days.

"It makes me sad how much my job effects my carbon footprint and of how brutally climate change is obviously effecting the world," she continued, "Mother Nature needs some love".

The model went on to say that to begin with, she will be concentrating her environmental efforts in her home state of California and the Amazon, both of which have been hit with disastrous wildfires in recent months. She adds that fans should reach out to her to tell her "which locations need to be shown some love as well".

"This is so exciting and interesting to me, that even though I’m not physically there, trees are being brought to life in the most incredible places that are in demand of them," she adds. "It’s the air we breathe, the water we drink, the biodiversity and animal life we need.

"I know it’s not much, but when I fly, I look out the window and see so many beautiful, extensive forests, so much land and trees but also so much that needs lots of help ... think about the animals too," she concluded. "Once I get home I’m definitely planting my own tree outside, [I am] so inspired by my friends".

The website she chose to use is onetreeplanted.org, which she deems "probably the easiest to donate to"; it allows donors to donate to multiple regions at once.

One tree costs $1 (Dh3.67), so Hadid's donation will have cost her $600 (Dh2,200).
