Radisson Blu has announced the opening of its first resort in the Maldives.

Nestled on the Huruelhi Island and one other islet, Radisson Blu Resort Maldives is a luxury private retreat made up of 128 beachfront and overwater villas.

Ranging from 215 to 790 square metres, all villas feature a private pool and ocean views, with one, two and three bedroom options available.

The resort is 105 kilometres from Malé’s Velana International Airport, and can be reached via a 20-minute domestic flight or 30-minute seaplane, followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride.

The resort has facilities for diving and water sports, as well as a yoga pavilion, fitness centre, sports court and games room.

There’s also a glass-walled event hall, which offers ocean front views for occasions including weddings.

When it comes to dining, there is a selection of restaurants, from Raha, the casual all-day dining destination; Alifaan, a Mediterranean and seafood grill; Eats and Beats, a relaxed poolside bar, and Crusoe’s, for adults-only dining.

For traditional Nikkei cuisine, there’s Kabuki, while Mahurab is an overwater bar.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome guests to Radisson Blu Resort Maldives. This is an outstanding resort that will fulfill every guest's vision of a tropical island paradise. Importantly, our unique location - within striking distance from the international airport - makes the resort easy to reach for guests to make the most of their Maldivian island experience,” said Zafer Agacan, general manager of Radisson Blu Resort Maldives.
