New Westin hotel opens in Singapore
Visitors to the Marina Bay area of Singapore now have another hotel to choose from. Opened this week, the Westin Singapore occupies levels 32 to 46 of the Asia Square Tower 2 development. The property, which is much less ostentatious than the Marina Bay Sands hotel, has 305 rooms and suites, a rooftop infinity pool and spa. Rooms from 403 Singapore dollars (Dh1,186) per night, including breakfast, taxes and Wi-Fi (www.starwoodhotels.com).
Four new Ritz-Carlton hotels this month
The Ritz-Carlton has opened four new properties this month, in Almaty in Kazakhstan, Bangalore in India and Chengdu and Tianjin in China. The company, which is part of the Marriott brand, aims to double its number of hotels in Asia by 2016. The Almaty property has 145 rooms and occupies 10 high floors of the city’s new Esentai Tower. The Bangalore property, on Residency Road, is the company’s first in India. It features an ESPA spa that offers ayurvedic and international treatments, and seven restaurants including one by the Michelin-starred chef Anupam Banerjee. Until January 31, the hotel has an opening offer of US$270 (Dh992) per night, including breakfast and taxes (www.ritzcarlton.com).
New Novotel opens in Al Barsha, Dubai
Accor has opened the fifth Novotel hotel in the UAE. The 41-storey, four-star Novotel Al Barsha sits on the Sheikh Zayed Road next to the Sharaf DG Metro Station, about one kilometre from the Accor group’s Suite Novotel Mall of the Emirates. The new hotel has 376 rooms and 90 suites. It has five restaurants and bars, a spa, an outdoor swimming pool and meeting and banqueting facilities. The hotel has an opening offer of US$240 (Dh882) per night, including taxes and a Dh200 credit for use in the hotel’s restaurants or spa (www.novotel.com).
