Capernaum film screening

Now is your chance to see the film Capernaum, which won the Jury Prize at Cannes and was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta, among others. Directed by Nadine Labaki, the film tells the story of Zain (Zain Al Refeea), a Lebanese boy who sues his negligent parents for the “crime” of giving him life. The streetwise child uses his wits to survive and meets a migrant worker who helps him find his way.

Seuls (Alone) documentary screening
Saturday, April 6
Teenagers aged 14 to 17 are invited to attend Cine Teens, a monthly programme hosted by Alliance Francaise Dubai, which aims to help them discover French cinema as they improve their French comprehension. The 2017 film Seuls (Alone) by David Moreau is about 16-year-old Leila, who wakes up one morning and discovers that everyone has disappeared, and she believes that she is the lone survivor of an unexplained disaster. After the film, teens are invited to take part in a short discussion in French.

Epic Smash at Smash Room

Once a month, Smash Room will host the Epic Smash, where up to 10 guests can get an adrenalin rush from pounding high-value items such as refrigerators, washing machines and even a car. Put on the protective gear, choose your weapon – sledgehammer, cricket bat, hammer or crowbar – and unleash your rage. Sand Sculptures at Kite Beach

The Courtyard Playhouse will present a new season of improvisation workshops. The beginners' class is Don’t Panic Improv, which can help calm your fears, make you laugh and develop your public-speaking. The next level is Spirit, which will push your skills and improve how you perform through games, narrative, character, theory and more. Storytelling concentrates on the importance of the story through games and character development, but with a focus on directing the audience's attention to the improvised tale. Max & Aegle is a newly launched health and fitness destination in Dubai that focuses on a holistic approach to wellness. The venue features a fitness area with cardio, weight training and circuit training, as well as group exercise classes, HIIT, boxing, yoga and cycling. Wings of Mexico

The outdoor sculpture Wings of Mexico, created by Mexican artist Jorge Marin, arrives in Dubai after travelling to Kuwait, Egypt, Singapore, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Abu Dhabi. Created in 2010, the artwork has become a symbol of the hopes and dreams of Mexico’s citizens, and also promotes the country’s creative spirit.

Visual Dialogues: The Book of Kings

The Book of Kings is the latest exhibition in the Total Arts series Visual Dialogues, which features juxtaposed works by contemporary artists Shirin Neshat and Fereydoun Ave that focus on the Book of Kings, the epic poems of the 10th century.
