Britain's Princess Beatrice has been leading a "high level delegation" heli-skiing trip in Pakistan. The trip, with global politicians, is being run by the 31-year-old as part of her job at artificial intelligence firm, Afiniti, and is not a part of her royal responsibilities.

Buckingham Palace has not released a statement about the royal's visit to the South Asian country, but images have been shared by influential figures on Twitter.

The President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, tweeted news of the trip, writing: "President Dr Arif Alvi hosts a high level delegation led by Princess Beatrice of York at the Presidency, who are in Pakistan for heli-skiing expedition." In the images shared, Princess Beatrice can be seen greeting President Alvi.

He added: "It reflects the trust of foreign tourists over tourist potential in Pakistan and that's why such a large delegation has come to Pakistan to enjoy skiing.

"With the world increasingly acknowledging Pakistan's natural beauty, Pakistan is destined to emerge as the tourist hub of the region and beyond."

Italian politician Matteo Renzi is on the trip, and shared a photo of the mountains with ski tracks.

Pakistani politician Sayed Zulfi Bukhari shared an image of the princess with Prime Minister Imran Khan; Spanish politician Jose Maria Aznar; Renzi; British politician Ed Miliband, and Afiniti chief executive and Pakistani-American businessman, Zia Chishti.

In the photos the group is sat, having lunch with a table full of food and drink.

At Afiniti, Princess Beatrice is the vice president of partnerships and strategy, she is also "in charge of [a company] programme to engage senior business chiefs around the world to support women in leadership."

What is heli-skiing?

Much like regular skiing, heli-skiing (or snowboarding) is the act of skiing down a mountain, the difference simply being that much more remote areas are accessible, as skiiers reach the mountains by helicopter rather than ski lift.

The sport is illegal in popular European skiing countries, France and Germany, for environmental reasons. There are two legal drop-off points in Austria.

2020 has been a busy year for Princess Beatrice

Earlier this month, details of Princess Beatrice's wedding to her property developer fiance, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, were announced by Buckingham Palace.

The couple will marry on Friday, May 29 at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. The ceremony will be followed by a private reception in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, according to the Royal Family.

Their wedding comes eight months after they got engaged in Italy in September 2019. They went public with their relationship in September 2018, one year before they announced their engagement.
