India's "wedding of the year", between Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, was a seriously grand affair – and we have the photographs to prove it.
The newlyweds, both heirs of two of India's most illustrious families, tied the knot in Mumbai on December 12. The ceremony was held at industrialist Mukesh Ambani's palatial residence, and there was a star-studded guest list, including Hillary Clinton, the Bachchan family, Aamir Khan and a host of other celebrities and politicians.
People on Twitter yesterday expressed thanks to the couple for keeping Hindu traditions alive throughout their ceremonies.
A Big Thank You to the #Ambani Family for keeping the #Hindu spirit alive through all the Ceremonies of #IshaAmbaniWedding. Jai Shri Krishna 🙏🏻 https://t.co/BJzi9nymG6

However, others expressed criticism of the lavishness of the occasion.
Videos of #Ambani wedding going around in SM is disgusting. Middle class& poor feel disgruntled & helpless seeing these stuff, displaying power of wealth making #HillaryClinton & #Kerry dance to their tunes. Ppl hold political leaders accountable for this at the time of election

Isha and Anand are childhood friends and got engaged in May, when Anand proposed on a trip that the couple took to the hill station of Mahableshwar. The three-day engagement ceremony in September at Italy's Lake Como also made headlines as it included a performance by John Legend. A sangeet party earlier this month then starred Beyonce, alongside performances by other big Bollywood names.
