Superleague woman driver

Spaniard Maria de Villota will become the first female driver to compete in the Superleague Formula by Sonangol championship when she makes her series debut for the Atletico Madrid team in the next round at Estoril on September 5-6. De Villota will also contest the final two races of the season at Monza on October 3-4 and her home track of Jarama on November 7-8. "This is the biggest opportunity of my career so far," said Maria, whose father, Emilio, raced in F1 in the late 1970s and early 80s. "I am from Madrid so it is a huge honour for me to be able to represent Atletico in Superleague Formula," she said.
