SHANGHAI // The Pan Asia Automotive Technical Center, a Shanghai-based design centre, has plans to modernise the image of General Motors' stalwart brand Buick. Plans from the Shanghai centre, in conjunction with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation for the 2010-2012 model years, include a compact sedan on a Chevrolet Cruze platform, a resurrection of the Regal model name for a new version of the Opel Insignia, the Buick LaCrosse sedan and two crossover vehicles. Buick sold 280,102 cars in China last year, compared with 137,197 in the US.
