Three pairs of trainers with motoring-related qualities.
Go gear: Fashionable and functional footwear
Piloti for the professional
When it comes to racing shoes, Italian brand Piloti leads the way. And these Piloti Avus shoes combine stylish looks with functional driving technology, such as the Roll Control heel, which cushions the heel bone. The right shoe also has a reinforced lateral side for easy heel-to-toe downshifting as well as reinforced rubber wraps running up the shoe from the midsole. Dh330. Visit www.racingdirect.com.
Never tyre of these trainers
You think of the word Dunlop in these pages and there's only one thought - tyres. But you may be surprised to find the brand also makes trainers, and cool ones at that. Although it is worth noting that the tyres and trainers are separate businesses that carry the same logo. These Dunlop greenflash have a classic plimsoll look, with a reinforced toe and rubber sole. Aston Martin's got a jump on rivals
When basketball star Kobe Bryant posted a video online of him jumping over an Aston Martin DB9, Nike seized on it and produced a very limited edition pair of Aston Martin Hyperdunks. There were only 500 pairs of them made, so you've probably got a better chance of jumping an Aston than getting them but they are a wonderful tie-in between the superstars of sport, trainers and motoring.
