Fisker makes Quantum leap

CALIFORNIA // Quantum Fuel Systems, an alternative energy company, has signed a $10.2 million (Dh37.5 million) contract with Fisker Automotive to support the development of plug-in hybrid powertrains. Fisker plans to launch its Karma vehicle, a sporty four-door saloon with a starting price of $87,000 (Dh320,000). The Karma will combine a 20-litre petrol engine with lithium-ion batteries and is designed to run for around 80km on battery power alone. Quantum will provide technologies that will aim to improve the car's fuel consumption when it is in hybrid mode.
