If big is your bag when it comes to vehicles and those Nissan Patrols and Toyota Land Cruisers seem just a little commonplace, the new Cadillac Escalade may fill the hole in your automotive life.

The US manufacturer has just pulled the covers off its 2021 full-size SUV and, unsurprisingly, it doesn’t disappoint in the size stakes.

It’s still recognisable as a model in the Escalade line, but the new version has completely redesigned it, upping both passenger and cargo capacities.

Tech-wise, it has what the company says is an industry-first curved OLED display, which comprises three screens of driver information and infotainment.

The new interior design is apparently influenced by Cadillac’s Escala concept vehicle, utilising something the marketing crew are calling Gideon Whisper Beige trim.

Powering that big body is a 6.2-litre V8 engine, but if that’s a little rich for your tastes you can also now get a 3-litre turbo-diesel option.

This vehicle, first launched in 1998, was apparently named after a siege warfare tactic of scaling walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders. We’re not sure any of the models produced thus far could actually go up a vertical incline, but the manufacturer certainly seemed to be indicating it might be something you could have a go at. Don’t, though.

The new Escalade will arrive on UAE shores later this year. Prices yet to be announced, but, judging by what you’ll pay for an older model, expect to be shelling out something in the region of Dh380,000-Dh400,000 for a premium version.
