Adrenalin junkies have a lot to look forward to as the Yas Marina Circuit has announced its gradual reopening from Friday, June 19.

During this initial opening period, a number of experiences will be launched with a limited schedule, including Yas Kartzone, DriveYas and the popular TrackDays, where customers can bring their own cars or bikes to the circuit for some action-packed fun.

Here are some of the popular activities that are back, and changes you can expect to find.

Yas Kartzone: Starting Monday, June 15, drivers aged 13 and above will be able to train and race at Yas Kartzone, provided they bring their own helmet and racing suit.

Yas Car Track Day: Those looking to push their own vehicles to its limit can do so on a track that has hosted some of the biggest names in the game (including Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel). During the initial opening phase, drivers need their own helmet, although the gear is available for purchase. This experience is currently only available to intermediate drivers with past experience on the track. Documents need to be uploaded digitally prior to arrival and a safety briefing will be carried out while maintaining social distancing measures.

Meanwhile, TrainYas is currently open to small groups of cyclists, with a few guidelines (cycling is only permitted on the circuit not on internal roadways). TrainAm, which gives cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to bike with others early morning (usually between 6am and 8am) is also open. Members are required to bring their own bikes, water and any other equipment. Those looking to be a part of these sessions can email info@abudhabicyclingclub.com.

In line with government directives, the racing destination has implemented safety precautions to keep staff and visitors safe. Yas Marina Circuit will be implementing a contactless registration process for all its activities. While race gear, such as gloves, helmets and suits, are not available to be rented during this time, equipment can be purchased from The Kartzone.

Here are some other changes you can expect around the racing circuit.

  • Temperature checks carried out at the entry.
  • Face masks are a must.
  • Those under the age of 13 and over the age of 60 are not allowed.
  • Social distancing must be maintained at all times.
  • No use of shared equipment or facilities allowed.
