Fit for royalty

We at M love chocolate - but not just any chocolate, as our taste buds are in tantalising heaven thanks to the delicacies made by the historical chocolatiers to the kings of France. Debauve & Gallais, the 212-year-old supplier to Louis XVIII, Charles X and Louis-Philippe, has recently opened its first boutique in Dubai's DIFC. The specialist chocolate selection features more than 70 flavours and designs, in addition to the famous Pistoles de Marie Antoinette, a range of chocolate coins that were first made for Queen Marie Antoinette in order to ease her distaste for taking medicines. While you sit and while away the day sipping master teas, coffees or hot chocolate in the tea room, you can also choose from milk and dark chocolates containing a variety of lip-smacking ingredients such as caramelised butter, praline, chestnut paste and candied ginger. Yum.

Give 'em the boot

Long gone are the days where you could wear boots only in winter and sandals only in summer. In fact, flirty chiffon dresses wouldn't have any kick if it weren't for chunky ankle boots. You can trust Kurt Geiger to pair our love for pastel shades with that of army-like boots in these must-have shoes. We'll be wearing them till winter hits - and all the way through to spring.

Lime tree

We have been Les Nereides followers since we first walked into its London store six years ago. The French label is best known for its delicate porcelain pendants and quirky charm bracelets - always with a sweet, girly feel. Get in touch with your inner 1970s hippie and wear this necklace under the collar of a white shirt with high-waisted pyjama trousers.

Ethically on trend

Tribal prints are a big hit this season and what better way to wear them than with the eco-friendly brand ethical muse? Made from sustainable resources, this beach bag will see you through many a trip to the beach and resort holidays. Pair with frayed denim shorts and an oversized sheer T-shirt to give your beach gear a bohemian edge.

Time for tea

Afternoon tea with an Argentinian twist has arrived. La Parrilla at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel has added some tasty little turns to old favourites including scones and fresh cream. From cornbread served with shrimp tartare, lime mayonnaise and jalapeño to Latin-inspired homemade fruit jams and marinated roast beef baguette, this is a tea not to be missed. The amazing food creations, the 25th-floor sweeping views over the Burj Al Arab and a flamenco guitarist ensure an afternoon well spent.

Dh185 per person or Dh225 with bubbles and Dh95 for children (under four years old free); Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 1-3pm, La Parrilla, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, 04 406 8999

New opening: Kate Spade

As if Dubai Mall didn't have enough big names, now it can add the New York-based designer Kate Spade to its repertoire. The preppy brand opened its first store in the UAE a few days ago at the Star Atrium. We're big fans of Spade's organisers, colourful printed wallets and retro eyewear and accessories. This bangle is a great nod to the 1920s trend that was all over the spring shows.
