A passion for prints
Did you know "stand of flamingoes" is the collective term for a group of the elegant-necked, pink birds? Or that a group of doves is called a "prettying"? We didn't, until we saw these vibrant bird prints that are the brainchild of Woop Studios, a new UK-graphic arts studio set up by a team of graphic designers from the Harry Potter films. As well as their love for wizards and Hogwarts, they have indulged their passion for words and images intended to bring the "fascinating collective of nouns to life". Whether you want to improve your knowledge or just appreciate good artwork, this collection is a delight. Each limited edition print is numbered, signed and embossed. Plus, they use pigment inks on pure cotton, acid-free paper to ensure a durability of 200 years, so you can adorn a wall with confidence.

Falling into our clutches
When it comes to the Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 runway trends, we have to say that the classic black-and-white colour combination is our favourite. Not only does it validate our fail-safe formula but it also always looks impeccably chic. This clutch by Jessica Kagan Cushman (the same woman who brought us Nantucket bangles) gives a nod to the monochrome as well as the animal trend (also seen at Miu Miu). The oversized tassel does a great job at lending the piece a bohemian feel, to make it stand out from the rest of the plainer versions out there.

Wings of change
Feather earrings are all the rage this year - mismatched, coloured, big or small, we've worn them all and we're getting a little bored of them. That is, until we saw these gold-plated, hand-carved hoops by Zoe & Morgan. The five-year-old brand specialises in simple but beautifully crafted jewellery and accessories, which have been spotted on the likes of Alexa Chung and Emma Watson.

Bird song
Solange Azagury Partridge is better known for her graphic enamel lips accessories, which is why we found the Mardi's Animals range a refreshing change. The collection includes all sorts of miniature creatures such as ladybirds, bees and snails, but this little blue bird caught our eye. The 18-carat, yellow-gold-and-enamel piece is whimsical without being silly, and makes a fashion statement without going overboard.
