YSL Beaute adds to its oriental collection
Silk Suede and Maginificent Gold promise to build on the rare alchemies already present in the existing collection
Yves Saint Laurent's Le Vestiaire des Parfums Oriental Collection has added two new fragrances to its repertoire. The Orient has a special place in Yves Saint Laurent's work, as he grew up in Algeria and spent a lot of time in Marrakech. This is reflected in many of his designs - from brocade turbans to embroidered reefer jackets, and of course, in his perfumes.
Silk Suede and Maginificent Gold, the new additions, promise to build on the rare alchemies already present in the existing collection. Magnificent Gold has a base of white oud, with a thread of saffron running through it and top notes of vanilla. Described as being sensual, smooth and intense, perfumer Honorine Blanc says of the fragrance: "Here, the skin and the suit are assembled in a unique sillage."
The second new fragrance, Sleek Suede, has black oud as its base, with a cocoa bean essence shored up by black pepper. The heavy depth of the oud is lightened with balsam fir, the candied smell of which, brings a surprising note of sweetness. Bolstered by a Patchouli absolute and vanilla, this heavy scent is described as being surprisingly elegant.
