Inside a Dh55m Italian-styled Palm Jumeirah villa in Dubai – in pictures
A Dubai Marina view, Italian marble and designer furnishing – see inside this upgraded Palm Jumeirah home
Italy is well known for being one of the world's most stylish nations, whether it's the catwalks of Milan showing the latest fashion trends, the jaw-dropping design of the latest Ferrari or the country's timeless architecture.
Certainly, a "made in Italy" tag is something you don't hide.
So, when a slice of that Italian style makes its way to Dubai and ends up dominating one of Palm Jumeirah's finest villas, you know you could be looking at a thing of beauty.
The Signature Villas on the Palm's Frond P are among the development's most high-end, and even more so after a complete individual renovation.
The owner of this particular villa, which has come on the market with LuxuryProperty.com for Dh55 million, decided to bring in a renowned company from Milan to give it a major facelift. Following the design phase, the team was on hand to install all of the components after they were pre-fabricated.
The outcome is an interior featuring brands such as Fendi Casa, Bentley and Visionnaire, wood imported from Italy and marble from Italy, Spain and Canada. A unique custom-designed chandelier adorns each of the main rooms, including an antler and one that resembles blooming plant life.
With five bedrooms and a built-up area of 8,000 sq ft, this can be a family home, although with this level of furnishing you almost wouldn't want to be dropping any crumbs or risk an errant pen doodle across the suede trim.
Outdoors there is a spectacular pool and specially upholstered furniture to avoid sun damage.
Then there's one of the most important factors – the view. While it takes in Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters Island from the bedrooms and terrace, the property is close to the trunk of the Palm and is quite overlooked by apartment blocks.
But if you want to have the best of both worlds in being close to the bright lights but within your own huge private plot then that shouldn't be an issue.
Q&A: Paul Martin, associate director and Palm Jumeirah villa specialist at LuxuryProperty.com
How much do renovations of this magnitude generally add to the value of the property?
A villa upgraded to this high level of luxury will add significant value to the property. The owner of this particular villa made these beautiful upgrades for his family to enjoy while they were living there, so the standard of finishing is far superior than what you see in many of the other upgraded villas on the Palm and affects the pricing accordingly
Are Italian-style interiors popular among Dubai home-buyers? More so than Arabic stylings?
The popularity of the interior style with home buyers in Dubai depends on the individual style preferences of the client. However, I would say that the majority of buyers on the Palm are now looking for contemporary and modern style homes, hence why there is an opportunity for savvy investors to purchase old rundown villas for low prices and then renovate them to a style that is in demand from new buyers.
Are there particular fronds on the Palm which are more sought-after than others? Such as closer to the mainland / Marina views?
Villas on the western side of the Palm that face the Dubai Marina skyline are among the most popular choices for buyers. Villas in good locations with views of the Atlantis and upcoming Royal Atlantis are also in demand. High number villas close to the tip of the frond generally command higher prices than low number villas.
There’s reports prices in Dubai will continue to slide in 2019 – will Palm Jumeirah be immune from these falls?
As with the rest of Dubai, prices for properties on Palm Jumeirah have seen a decline over the past few years. However, the market for upgraded luxury villas is different to the market for standard villas, so a nicely upgraded home in a prime location tends to hold its value better than the standard ones.
