Ikram Abdi Omar lands Burberry’s Festive Campaign 2019

The hijab-wearing model is part of a diverse line-up by the British heritage brand

From Cara Delevingne and Naomi Campbell, to Matt Smith and Romeo Beckham, the annual Burberry Festive Campaign is known for its diverse faces and delightfully creative imagery. This year’s cast may well go down as the luxury house’s most varied line-up yet, and includes Ikram Abdi Omar.

The model was born in Sweden and raised in the UK, and is the first hijab-wearing woman to sign with the prestigious Booking Models agency in London. She made her fashion week debut with Molly Goddard at the autumn / winter 2018 season at London Fashion Week, followed by assignments for Zandra Rhodes Archive, Nicopanda, Ryan Lo and Juicy Couture.

Some of the other names in this year’s campaign include British models Fran Summers and Cecilia Chancellor, Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu, Brazilian model Lea T, performance artist Boychild, filmmaker Wu Tsang, Russian model Sasha Pivovarova, South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in and footballer Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and musicians Mahmood and Carla Bruni.

Burberry’s creative director Riccardo Tisci teased a first look on Instagram, with the campaign set to release on Wednesday, November 13.

Based on Tisci’s post, we’re expecting a Shakespeareanenchanted forest, full of fairies and fauns.
